Choosing Accredited Home Watch
I joined the National Home Watch Association (NHWA) because I wanted to differentiate myself from the competition in the area. Several businesses offer home-watching services. However, they may be uninsured or underinsured and do not have the training to conduct a proper home watch visit.
NHWA required 904 Home Watch to follow certain requirements before becoming accredited with the backing of NHWA. I had to have my background checked, provide references, acquire the proper business licenses, insurance, and surety bond as well as agree to adhere to the organization’s Code of Ethics which ultimately protects the client’s best interest and work in a manner to move the industry forward.
NHWA offers training boot camps, continuing education, and a Certified Home Watch Professional certification to help set the accredited businesses apart from the competition. Constant conversation and information sharing is highly encouraged through a variety of forums that the organization has available.
The Association’s mission is to establish and maintain the highest set of standards and code of ethics for all home watch companies. NHWA also wants to establish and maintain trust and build confidence between owners and home watch professionals. Being held accountable, the trust between individuals, and the subsequent confidence that comes with that trust is the cornerstone of a successful business and are at the core of my individual beliefs.
